We have put together this short, monthly email as a way to keep in touch with you, our users, and also as a way to deliver more news, events, insights, and even our own opinions on what is happening in the gas station and convenience store industry.
Our audience consists of a wide array of groups and individuals. We have users registered as owners, operators, vendors, manufacturers, buyers, sellers, wholesalers, and consumers. All of these people make up the gas station community, and we will give each of you a voice.

ISP Migration Complete
GasStations.com just recently completed an ISP migration. Basically what that means is that we have changed internet providers to offer you faster and more reliable service.
We apologize for the short period of downtime during the switch where service was interrupted and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. The resulting glitches have been worked out and the site should be fully functional once again. Thanks again for your patience.

Hire the Best C-Store Employees
 Convenience Store Coaches Inc. has just published a new book titled, "Hire the Best C-Store Employees". This will be the first in a series of books that aims to help c-store retailers hire, recruit, coach, and train quality managers and employees. The goal of this group is to help c-store retailers improve their bottom line through their front line.
The authors, Linda McKenna and Terry McKenna will be speaking on the book at the upcoming NACS show in a seminar titled "Obtaining a High Performance Workforce". Their seminar will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5th at 8:00am. All retailers that attend this seminar will qualify to receive a Free Assessment of their current interview and selection processes.

So You're Thinking About Selling?
The results are in, and according to the 2007 NACS State of the Industry report, convenience store sales rose to a record-high $569 billion last year, but profits plummeted by a record $4.8 billion. The staggering drop in profitability has hit multi-store owners the hardest, with many of them considering selling their stores. But thanks to a tax law provision known as the 1031 Exchange, costly tax consequences resulting from the sale of those stores can be avoided.
